FIRE ALARM SYSTEM UPGRADE

Red Flame Electrical were approached by the owner of a large commercial building in Llanidloes that needed some upgrades with regards to the fire alarm system. They previously had a basic 4-Zone panel with most detector heads over 20 years old and complaints of multiple false alarms being activated on a frequent basis.

Given the complexities of the building, we gave careful consideration to the location and type of detector to be used in each area. There are a total of three business operating under one roof and the system needed to accommodate each area successfully.

As price was an issue for this project, we were unable to install a fully addressable system but instead opted for a conventional 2-Wire system of detectors and call points and a dedicated sounder circuit. This kept the cost down for the customer but provided the adequate upgrade and protection that was lacking from the old system.

We were able to use some of the existing cable, and where required, added our own parts of FP200 gold fire resistant cabling. The building is now fully zoned and has great fire protection for all businesses within. An optional upgrade for the future would be the repeater panels for which we have already laid the cabling.
